I Hate Flying Bugs Inc., a leading EdTech company specializing in personalized online education, has announced its selection to co-lead the development of a prototype AI digital textbook for middle school mathematics. This project, titled “Research on the Service Model and Prototype Development of Middle School Mathematics AI Digital Textbooks,” is spearheaded by the Korea Education and Research Information Service (KERIS) in collaboration with the Center for Curriculum and Instruction Studies (CCIS) at Korea University.

Scheduled to run until December, this initiative represents a critical step towards introducing AI digital textbooks in South Korean schools by 2025. Its primary goal is to create a prototype AI service model and evaluate its effectiveness within the classroom environment. IHFB and CCIS have been chosen as key partners for this groundbreaking project.

CCIS is recognized for its extensive expertise in curriculum development, teaching methodology, and educational materials. Professor Heejeong Kim, a renowned mathematics education specialist from the Graduate School of Education at Korea University, will lead the research efforts. CCIS’s vast experience in areas such as teacher training, mathematics learning pathways, problem-solving education, and AI courseware development provides invaluable practical insights to the project.

Established in 2012, IHFB boasts a proven track record in operating successful personalized 1:1 online education platforms. Since 2013, the company has utilized its self-developed AI courseware, which includes a comprehensive Learning Management System (LMS) and Content Management System (CMS) complemented by dedicated teacher support functions. This robust combination of technological expertise and educational experience positions IHFB to significantly contribute to the project’s success.

The collaboration aims to develop a comprehensive prototype through extensive analysis of international and domestic educational service models utilizing AI technology. This prototype will be specifically designed to integrate seamlessly with the distinct characteristics of middle school mathematics education. It will undergo rigorous feedback from the education community before culminating in practical testing within actual school settings to validate its effectiveness.

Professor Heejeong Kim of CCIS expressed their optimism: “By creating a prototype tailored to the specific needs of middle school mathematics education, we strive to establish a solid foundation for personalized learning and digital transformation within the classroom.”

Chanyong Park, Founder and CEO of IHFB, echoed this sentiment: “Leveraging our extensive experience in operating educational services, we are committed to developing AI courseware that can seamlessly integrate into the daily realities of classroom teaching.”
